February 2025 Member of the Month: Theresa Farrell
It is our pleasure to introduce you to Theresa! Theresa (she/her) started her journey with us at FUELhouse 1.0 (our first location). She completed our foundations series in January of 2018 🤯 😮 and has been a dedicated group class member ever since.
Theresa was nominated by the coaches because of her OG status, and because of her dedication to getting her training in throughout the week. Her self motivation is inspiring! From making it to a morning class (instead of her usual evening) due to a shift in her schedule, to putting in the work during open gym; Theresa doesn’t let an excuse get in the way of her movement. Coaches love watching her push herself!

Where can you be found outside of the gym? What do you do for a living?
I work in the finance department at Seattle Parks Foundation. We help communities improve and expend Seattle's parks and green spaces. I am also a personal pet sitter for my good friend and her two cats, plus a new puppy.
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy hiking, traveling, running, listening to music/podcasts, watching some Kraken and Yankee games along with wandering around Seattle. Also enjoy lounging around reading or binge watching some cooking competition shows plus I am slightly obsessed with any unsolved mystery or real-life supernatural events shows.
What brought you to FH in the first place?
I realized once I started to get a little bit older that only doing cardio wasn't getting the job done. I knew I would need to incorporate some weight training as well.
How are we so lucky you picked us (what are your favorite things about FH)?
I did a little research before I joined Fuelhouse and really loved the variety of classes Fuelhouse offered. I started off with the Foundation classes with Molly and Tiff and haven't looked back.
What sports or fitness things did you do before FH?
Growing up, I played soccer (inside & outside), basketball and softball all the way up to high school. Once in college, I focused on basketball but did join the cross country team in my senior year. After college, I continued running and have participated in multiple races from 5ks up to ultra marathons.
What programs are you currently involved in at FH and why?
I am a group class fanatic. The programing works for me and since I secretly compete with everyone else in class, motivates me to push myself.
What goals are you working towards and/or what’s on your FH bucket list of things you’d like to accomplish?
I have a couple of FH goals. First one would be 1 unassisted pull up and the other would be Sinister. Would also like to hit 250 on a deadlift, that would be fun.
What makes you commit to training even on days you don't feel like it?
I try to remember how I feel after I have work out and use that as motivation to get myself out the door.
What's your favorite movement/exercise?
Basically, any barbell movement except military presses. Military presses are my nemesis.
What have been your “bright spots” (PRs or accomplishments are you most proud of)?
I participated in Lifter with Sokol over a year ago and have to admit that my 200 lb back squat was pretty amazing. Also, pretty proud of my two-handed swing as well since I have been working hard to successfully swing the 44kg.
How have these accomplishments affected your life?
It makes me realize that I can do hard things, and you just have to go for it.
What is on your general bucket list for life?
I would like to experience the northern lights. I missed them last year here in Seattle where everyone saw them except for me or that is what it felt like scrolling Instagram. I would also like to move overseas for a bit and travel around.
Tell us a little known fact about yourself or what’s something most people don’t know about you?
My first trail race was a 50 miler in Oregon. I can drive a manual car, and I have dual citizenship with Ireland.
What's your favorite thing about being a FUELhouse member?
The sense of community and how welcoming everyone is.
What was your first impression of FH? How has that changed?
I was definitely overwhelmed with kettlebells since I had never heard of them before Fuelhouse. I can confidently say that I can handle myself in a kettlebell class.
What advice do you have for new (or experienced!) friends trying out FH?
Try it, you'll like it.
