The daily challenges of our workouts and the environment we create remind us that there is always something we can get better at or reach further for. Our mission is to help motivate our fitness family to strive for continual growth in all aspects of our lives, primarily focusing on our sleep, nutrition, movement, and mindset habits/routines. I am thankful, lucky and blessed to have FUELHOUSE as my family and for the opportunity to coach and sweat with you! If you don't know already you will quickly learn that my favorite things to talk about are my dog (Po), my husband (Stu), my love for pumpkin brew in October, UW Husky Football, kettlebells, peanut butter, hard rock, hip hop, travel, and everyday nonsense.

Brian Hurst

Co-Captain and Coach

Hello! I’m Brian and I was born & raised in Salt Lake City.  You may know me as Coach “B” & the General Manager at FUELHouse, but what I really do is help individuals understand and improve their mind & body through strength training. I first started training with kettlebells back in 2014 when I decided it was time to take my health more seriously. My learning began by way of a DVD purchased online, but things really took off for me after recognizing I needed some guidance. That is when I stumbled upon a StrongFirst Instructor (Coach Jeff Sokol) who introduced me to HardStyle training.  Working with a coach helped me acquire the strength, safety standards, and techniques that fueled my progress. I fell in love with the process and the idea that strength is a skill! I moved from UT to WA the summer of 2018 and began my coaching career in the fall. Since then I have earned my SFG I Kettlbell Instructor & SFL Barbell Instructor Certifications with more to come.  I’d love to be your guide to take your strength to the next level.

WHY train with me?

  • I am going to take the time to get to know you and create a plan that will work for you. I'll stick with you and modify our plan over time to help you achieve your goals.

  • I am going to be a pillar for motivation & encouragement so that you can always give it your best, no matter where you're at that day.

  • I didn't begin strength training until I was in my mid-twenties, so I understand the vulnerability required to start from square one. I know how to take it to the next level after we've mastered the basics. I will hold space for you at all times.

  • I have the ability to help you understand the strength you didn't know you had!

Hayley Magwire

Coach and Customer Services Manager

Hayley joined the FUELhouse team in March 2020. Before then, she was a proud member since they opened their doors in 2015. Navigating the gym and movement throughout her pregnancy and postpartum inspired her to leave her full-time desk job to become a coach at FUELhouse. Shortly after her daughter Nora was born, Hayley became certified as a Pre- and Postnatal Coaching Specialist with Girls Gone Strong (GGS). Even though she lived it, she learned so much about a woman's body as she moves through her stages of pregnancy and postpartum. She’s inspired to help all humans move safely and strongly throughout all stages of their life. She is driven to help people build functional strength so they can live their best lives. You can find Hayley coaching group fitness classes, personal training, working with new to FUELhouse members, OG members, and people interested in getting started with us. She was born and raised in Seattle, WA and can't wait to raise her daughter here as well.

Kari

Coach

Kari is our in house Canadian if you have somehow missed that data point. There is not a class that goes by that there is not at least a mention of that. Growing up in Vancouver, sports were always apart of Kari's life. When finally going off to college it only seemed fitting that Human Kinetics would be her chosen educational path at the University of British Columbia.  Kari found her way down to Seattle by means of her husband Adam (also known as Gary, which can really confuse people).

She is an outdoor enthusiast, but not in the PNW kind of way. She loves snowboarding back home, as well as spending time paddle boarding nearby lakes or vacationing to the ocean to swim and surf.

She has now been in the fitness world for over 10 years! With numerous certifications to her name, she found her place at Fuelhouse by joining the StrongFirst ranks as a kettlebell instructor. Kari believes exercise is a pertinent part of daily living and routine, but it HAS to be fun, or else why do it. Personal Training is also another way she fills her days, from 1:1 sessions to small groups, she can help you keep in a routine, rehabilitate from injury, learn all the while enjoying yourself with her quick wit and energy! No Payne No Gain

Vincent Southard

Coach

Hailing from three generations of Seattle lineage, Vincent's pursuit of excellence in health and fitness began with those first few steps under the barbell at the ambitious age of 14. Like so many others, Vincent saw the way fitness brought people together. Coaching provided Vincent with an outlet to fulfill his passion for helping others and creating meaningful connections, eventually landing him at FuelHouses’ huge doors in 2022.

When Vincent's not swinging kettlebells you may find him in the kitchen trying nutritious meal prep recipes, out walking on the Burke-Gilman (probably barefoot), or tucked away with a book taking notes in the margins.

Forever a student of strength, Vincent’s next steps include continuing higher physical education, surpassing his limits, and helping others reach their full potential!

Patrick Hodder

Coach

Patrick is a lifelong Washingtonian whose interest in group fitness began 20 years ago when he was dragged to a hot yoga class with his father.  That humbling experience ignited a passion and started a long journey to find fun and effective styles of training.

This journey took on a whole new direction in 2015, when he was introduced to hard-style kettlebell training. He quickly signed up for his first certification as a means to learn more.   It was during that certification that he decided he would leave the world of Excel spreadsheets to find something more fulfilling in the world of fitness.  After being a member of Fuelhouse several years, he mustered the courage to leave the accounting profession in 2021 to join the Fuelhouse family to pursue his passion for fitness full-time.

In addition to his fascination in training and movement, you will find Patrick is long-winded about tea (and tisanes), comic books, video games, movies, and collectibles.  He also enjoys hiking steep hills, kayaking on the sound... and still loves being humbled by a sweaty yoga class.

Julia Aminov

Coach

Julia's fascination with movement and its effects on the brain and body started at a young age. Growing up with scoliosis, she was introduced to different movement modalities and pretty quickly understood the importance of exercise and mindful movement. She got certified as a yoga instructor in 2017 soon after deciding she wanted to work with people in preventative care. She strongly believes that if people live an active life, that is the best preventative care they can gift themselves. Julia wanted to continue to teach others how to move their bodies in ways that encourage them to be curious, compassionate and strong so she decided to get certified as a strength trainer.

She recently left her tech job to pursue coaching full time because she loves getting to know people and pushing them to be the absolute best version of themselves. She loves how functional kettlebell training promotes longevity and is passionate about cross training kettlebells and yoga. She found Fuelhouse and immediately felt at home within the community.

Outside of coaching and teaching yoga, Julia loves to travel, spend time with her family, partner and dog, cycle and explore the outdoors. She moved to Seattle from the midwest seeking adventure and new experiences. She is a lifelong learner and appreciates any opportunity to grow or try something new.

Evan Tuck

Coach

When I started bringing friends to the gym I found I loved teaching others how to exercise efficiently. This made me pursue my first certification in personal training. After being a personal trainer for 1.5 years I decided to invest in myself with the ACE group training certification and applied to work at FUELhouse here in Seattle. I am hoping to gain experience here specifically with coaching groups and working on teamwork rather than just one-on-ones. When I am not in the gym I like to longboard during summer and snowboard during winter. When given the opportunity I love to surf but there are no good waves in Seattle.
