FH Members Supporting Members: Mountaineer's Center Menopause Series

Nomi joined FUELHouse in 2016  having moved from the east coast to Seattle. Over the years as she built up her strength, she also discovered a love of the beautiful PNW outdoors. Currently, as a postmenopausal woman, Nomi is passionate about supporting inclusive outdoor experiences for women as they age, particularly as bodies change during this monumental transition period of life. In addition to consulting work focusing on the intersection of climate change, gender and sexual health, Nomi is also working in partnership with the Mountaineers to develop a sub-series for leaders to support individuals who are peri and postmenopausal across a range of outdoor activities.

On January 30th from 6:00-8:00pm in-person at the Mountaineer's Center, (7700 Sand Point Way NE, Seattle, WA 98115) Nomi will be hosting and moderating an interactive panel discussion about building confidence and inclusivity in the outdoors among individuals who are peri or postmenopausal. Panelists will feature Mountaineer leaders who will share their personal experiences as well as a local clinician who specializes in menopause care. The intention of this session is to create a safe and nurturing space for all participants to have the opportunity to ask questions, learn new information, gain practical tips and build community among women who enjoy the outdoors. The session is open to anyone interested in the topic, you don't need to be a Mountaineer Member to join! Please check out this link to learn more and register: Panel Discussion: Building Confidence, Inclusivity and Community in the Outdoors for Peri and Post-menopausal Women - Mountaineers Seattle Program Center.

In addition to the panel discussion, Nomi has worked with the Mountaineers to develop a full sub-series focused on menstruation and menopause. You can find out more about the additional sessions here:

Your Body and the Outdoors: Menstruation and Menopause – A Leadership Development Subseries — The Mountaineers  many sessions are virtual and all are open to the public.

The sub-series is designed to be valuable to anyone who is a coach, an outdoor leader or an outdoor adventurer!  The hard work in the gym translates to safe and enjoyable experiences in the outdoors!  We hope you'll take a moment to review the links and consider joining the sessions.
