FUELer of the Month: @imdaniellesack

Danielle is a true gem and go getter. She embodies that beautiful quality of inquisitiveness that keeps her searching for ways to improve and enhance her fitness journey. We were blessed to gain Danielle as a regular virtual member during the pandemic and now we are so grateful we get to see her in person when she meets with Coach Dre onsite at FUELhouse for 1:1 personal training.

Please show Danielle some LURVE!

Name: Danielle Sack

Occupation: Yoga Instructor

  1. Where can you be found outside of the gym? What do you do for a living? Biking, hiking, or hanging out with my family and dogs. I teach yoga and breath retraining.

  2. What are your hobbies? Any type of movement I can fit into my schedule. Riding bikes, going hiking, running with friends. Our family also fosters puppies so we almost always have more dogs than humans in our house.

  3. What brought you to FH in the first place? I strained my shoulder over the summer and wanted to find a place that could help me rehab my shoulder and learn to improve my technique on several of the movements I’ve been practicing. FUELhouse did that and more!

  4. How are we so lucky you picked us (what are your favorite things about FH)? I love that Fuel House creates a great community even while online. I’m a virtual member as I don’t live close enough to come in regularly. But even online it’s been fun to have a group of people to hold me accountable to getting my workouts in.

  5. What sports or fitness things did you do before FH? I’ve been using kettlebells as my primary way of working out ever since my kids were little. When my kids were little, there wasn’t a lot of time to commit to a full workout because i was constantly chasing the little ones around. Having kettlebells meant I was able to add in some training throughout my day. I’ve been hooked on kettlebells ever since. Fuel House has helped me find some gaps in my training and areas I could greatly improve.

  6. What programs are you currently involved in at FH (group classes, individualized program design, personal training, nutrition?) and why? Group classes online and personal training with Coach Dre. Dre helped me strengthen my shoulder that’s been giving me issues. Thanks to her, I’m back to KB snatching and Turkish get ups like I was before I hurt my shoulder, but with better technique. I would love to eventually go through the level 1 Strongfirst kettlebell training.

  7. What makes you commit to training even on days you don't feel like it? Having group classes is the most beneficial! There’s a lot of power in having a group of people all doing the same tough workout together, even if it is online.

  8. What's your favorite movement/exercise? Turkish Getup

  9. What have been your “bright spots” (PRs or accomplishments are you most proud of)?  Getting back to where I was before I hurt my shoulder has been amazing.

    1. How have these accomplishments affected your life? Having an injury of any type dramatically changes how you go about your day and what you’re able to do. Maintaining strength is more than just being “in shape”. Being strong enough to pickup my chunky dog with a hurt leg or sleeping kid is infinitely valuable.

  10. What’s on your general bucket list for life? Travel more, rescue lots of dogs, raise my kids to be caring and considerate humans, and try to spread a little kindness

  11. What's your favorite thing about being a FUELhouse athlete? Having a group of people to workout with! I wish it was closer so I could regularly be there in person!

  12. What was your first impression of FH?  How has that changed? That it was a great community! There has clearly been a huge amount of effort put forth to be inclusive and create a sense of belonging and it really shows.

  13. What advice do you have for new (or experienced!) new friends trying out FH? Just get started no matter where you are and what you can commit to!
